Smart Chargers
A smart charger connects to your home WiFi allowing you to monitor and control the charging process on an app. The app can be viewed on your phone or tablet. Most chargers these days are smart.
7kW, 7.4kW or 22kW
These are the charger power outputs for home devices. 7kW and 7.4kW are for regular, single-phase supplies and will charge a car at an approximate rate of 25 to 30 miles every hour. For a faster charging speed, a 3-phase supply is needed and most homes cannot deliver this.
OZEV Approved
Chargers displaying this feature have been approved by the Office of Zero Emission Vehicles. To be eligible for a grant a charger must be OZEV approved.
Tethered
A tethered charger has a cable attached to it. The cable simply plugs into your electric vehicle. When not in use, the cable is stored away within the charger.
Load Balancing
Load balancing is important if multiple vehicles charge at the same time. Power distribution is managed by this feature to make sure it doesn’t overload the system.
Solar Compatible
An important feature if you have solar panels or are thinking of having them installed soon.
Colour/Finish
Most chargers are available in black or white finishes. If the charger is to be fitted in a prominent position, make sure the finish complements your property.
